You should first take a look at the fuse or the breaker. The can be deceived that the system has failed when the breaker trips. Ensure that you have replaced the fuse with the right wire rating so that it can blow when necessary. Take a look at the wiring to figure out what caused blow out. You can replace the power cord with a new one or seal a broken one with the electric tape.
Another area you should also take a look at if the breaker and the fuse are fine is the internal trips. These are fitted into the A/C to shutdown the system in case of certain problems. If the oil or the Freon is too low then the trips are designed to trip. The oil should be replaced. However, You need to find the source of the leak of the Freon so that it does not leak again when refilled. Solder the crack to seal it.
If all is well and you still cant make your system to work again, take a look at the thermostat. Wrong readings can be given off by a faulty thermostat. Calibrate the thermostat to solve this problem.
Call a specialized technician if you are not able to find the problem so that he can let you know if you need to replace the A/C with a new one.
